Arabescato ( Italian)

The monumental mantel in the Conference Room of the Senate in the Luxembourg Palace is a masterpiece of its kind, and was carved in Arabescato marble. An exceptional antique Louis XV style three shells mantel was also created in the same marble for the Chambre de Parade of the Princess, where the ceremonial bed was placed, in the Hotel de Soubise. Maison & Maison offers a custom-made Louis XV style mantel, comparable to the one in the Hotel de Soubise: the “Comtesse de Mailly” model.

The Arabescato is part of the family of white Carrara marbles. In the same way as the latter, quarrying of Arabescato began in Antiquity. The main quarries are located in Serravezza Lucca in the Basin of Carrara, in Italy. Arabescato is a white translucent crystalline marble, veined with gray and black, and is very popular worldwide. It was used to decorate the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles.
